WELCOME TO RENE STUD
Rene Poll Dorset Stud was founded in 1980 using selected ewes from our Dorset Horn Stud giving us a base of consistent quality and type to build a solid Dorset foundation for the Poll Dorset Stud.
Our aim is to continually improve performance on the base of structurally sound females producing high quality rams to Prime Lamb producers and sound Seed-Stock to the Stud industry. The stud progressed using the best genetics available in Australia. This has been helped with the continuous use of Artificial Insemination programs and embryo transplanting.
TIMELINE
In 2002 Rene Stud was relocated from Queensland to Culcairn, NSW, where the lamb industry was more concentrated, giving us the opportunity to have our finger on the pulse and helping to maintain the Studs high standard.
In 2005 we commenced our White Suffolk Stud using embryos from Detpa Groves top Stud Ewes giving Rene Stud the best base to advance the Stud, to help us speed up our genetic progress, each year we have selected the top 5% of ewes to go into the Embryo Transplant programme, we have continually aimed to have sound structured sheep with White Suffolk characteristics, clean white heads, fine front shoulders, long body with a big hindquarters.
With the ever changing demands of the Lamb Industry Rene has recognised the need for a Sheep Breed that will target the trade lamb enterprise especially out of maiden ewes and merinos, a smaller lamb that will reach its target weight quickly. Charollais is perfectly suited to fulfil this role with its white downs wool, clean features and a powerful hindquarter it will turn off a profitable article that will meet the future demands of our Lamb Industry.
